What do Presbyterians believe?

Core convictions include God’s sovereignty and grace, salvation through Jesus Christ, the authority of Scripture, and a call to justice and service — held together in a Book of Confessions rather than a single creed.

How is the church governed?

“Connectional” government: a local Session of elders connects to a Presbytery, a Synod, and the General Assembly, which meets every two years to discern direction for the whole church.

Baptism and the Lord’s Supper. Communion is open to all baptized believers, not members only.

Who can belong or lead?

Membership and leadership — as elders or ministers — are open to all people, regardless of race, gender, or sexual orientation.

How did the PC(USA) form?

Formed in 1983 by the reunion of the northern and southern branches of American Presbyterianism, healing a division dating to the Civil War.
