The writer of the Book of Hebrews writes: “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen” (Hebrews 11). Another writer, in our time, Frederick Buechner - referred to as the C.S. Lewis of our generation -wrote about faith. He did so by listening to his life. What emerged, he said, were “whispers that organized themselves into a faith.”
Buechner died earlier this month. His writings were deeply influential to Pastor John and he shares some stories and and shares some of Buechner’s writings about faith that hopefully speak to your own life and to your faith.
Music Director Nate Strasser has composed an original song based on Buechner’s words.
This podcast episode also draws back the curtain to speak about the faith of our ancestors who the writer of Hebrews appeals to, reminding us that we are “surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses” and to run with perseverance the race that is set before us.”
