Our Partnerships

“I am with you to deliver you, says the Lord.”

-Jeremiah 1:8

nueva vida food project

Through our work with Nueva Vida, Matthew 25, and our EBPC Community Garden, we seek to answer the call of the PCUSA General Assembly to “act boldly and compassionately to serve people who are hungry, oppressed, imprisoned, or poor.”

Psalms 127:3 reminds us, "Children are a gift from the Lord. They are a reward from Him." God's blessings are abundant, and in this case, He blessed this mom with not one, but two babies on Valentine’s Day. Maria first visited our Nueva Vida food bank in January 2023, nine months pregnant, in search of food and baby supplies. What she didn’t expect was to find a supportive community that would love and care for her family for years to come. Now, at two years old, the girls have been part of the Nueva Vida family since before they were born. We’ve had the privilege of providing them with strollers, car seats, clothes, diapers, and other essentials. Lilia Ramirez-Jimeniz, a Nueva Vida staff member, says, “It’s a joy to see them when she brings them.” Maria and her daughters represent many similar stories we see at Nueva Vida—families who come seeking practical support and leave with their spirits nourished as well. As one of our guests shared, “Sometimes we just need a hug.” In these uncertain times, alongside your generous in-kind donations, would you consider offering a helping hand, a warm hug, or a word of encouragement to those who come to Nueva Vida? Now, more than ever, they need our support. Thank you for everything you’ve done and will continue to do!

Room in the Inn

EBPC hosts 6 guests from Room in the Inn during the months of November, December, January, February and March. Our guests receive a safe place to sleep as well as a hot meal, shower, and breakfast and lunch for the following day. There are many ways to serve this ministry including serving as an innkeeper, driver, preparing dinner, providing lunches and breakfasts, setting up mats, cleaning up, laundry and hospitality.

Glenview Elementary School

Glenview Elementary school in Nashville, TN, has a diverse student population, with 80% of students coming from a non-English speaking background and almost all students qualify for free or reduced lunch (97%). The school has on-site Arabic and Spanish translators who help students (and their families) transition to Glenview.

The school has no PTO and EBPC is a significant community partner. Our primary goal is to support the bodies and spirits of children, families, and teachers. East Brentwood Presbyterian Church & Preschool support Glenview throughout the year by equipping students in need with uniforms and supplies, helping with special events like Fall Fest, providing Christmas assistance through our Glenview Angel Tree, recognizing Glenview's teachers for their hard work, and providing Glenview's families with items needed on an emergency basis (such as baby formula).

Guatemela Peten Partnership

The Presbytery of Middle Tennessee has a covenant relationship with the Presbytery of Peten in the northernmost part of Guatemala.

The highlight of the partnership is the annual mission trip, scheduled for April 10-16, 2025. To date, 25 churches and over 100 individuals have participated in this life-enriching experience. EBPC has been an active participant over the years. Highlights of the partnership include supporting education for children and youth, theological training for pastors and lay leaders, and women's empowerment project.

Certified Recovery Congregation

EBPC recognizes the tremendous impact that addiction and substance misuse continue to have on our community.

In 2018, EBPC completed the steps to become a Certified Recovery Congregation through the TN Dept. of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Faith Initiative.

We are committed to:

  • Providing spiritual/pastoral support.

  • Viewing addiction as a treatable disease, not a moral issue.

  • Embracing & supporting people in recovery and walking with them on their journey.

  • Providing a visible outreach in the community.

  • Sharing recovery information.

  • Hosting recovery support groups.

The WillCo Volunteer
Connections Corner

We Strive to Make a Difference. Powered by East Brentwood Presbyterian Church, Williamson County now has a central web-based tool, opportunities to support local faith-based or charitable organizations.

The mission of WVCC is to provide an online central clearinghouse where individuals or groups can search for potential volunteer opportunities with faith-based and other charitable organizations providing meaningful services in Williamson County and the Greater Metropolitan Nashville area and seamlessly sign up to participate. WVCC is looking for other church and non-profit organization partners in Williamson County to:

  • Join our network to support the needs of the many organizations in our county searching for volunteers

  • Grow the pool of potential volunteers to address our community’s needs most effectively.

  • Volunteer for opportunities to support local faith-based or charitable organizations

  • Communicate need for donation items

  • Spread the news about upcoming community events

Visit www.willcovolunteer.org to learn how your faith-based or charitable sponsored organization can use WVCC to grow its volunteer support or, choose a volunteer opportunity for yourself or group with one of the supported organizations. In a pilot program with Hands on Nashville in early 2022, EBPC experienced the potential impact the WVCC might have in WillCo.

“Now we are on your EBPC site and with new language that states we are looking for bilingual volunteers and listing us as working with the immigrant community, the response has been phenomenal. We have had about 20 express an interest and a dozen of these are actually signing up for shifts. The quality of the candidates is wonderful. We have bilingual students volunteering from Vanderbilt and Belmont. A registered nurse who is bilingual and a team of 10 from Vanderbilt are coming in March to do a combined delivery/serve shift. All of this in just over one month.” -Renee, Volunteer Coordinator at the Nueva Vida Food Project
