If you make a name for yourself, you become well known for something. For instance: Aaron Judge as a home run slugger; Whitney Houston as a great singer.
(Teaser: Nate drops her name and an exciting feature film project he is involved in.)
Once Jesus told a story about a rich man who made a name for himself and had everything, but we don’t know his name and a poor man who had nothing but who we know by the name Lazarus. It is a scary story with Jesus talking about money, death and hell, but we think there is something life altering and freeing as it challenges us to consider whether we believe more in what God finds worth in than we believe in the worth of our material lives.
Pastor John touches upon Diana Butler Bass’s observations of the recent funeral of Queen Elizabeth and shares other stories.
Musical Guests: Barb Hall and Peggy Rein.
The question we are asking is: “Do you have an identity rooted in God? Is there a you beneath your material life? Are you about something bigger than you?”
Thanks to Jason Micheli who raised this question and you will want to listen to what he has to say in his substack over at Tamed Cynic.
